The story behind the work
« SAISI » (struck)
"It is the word that came to me the first time I found myself face to face with this lionfish, a « laf » as we say in Mauritius.
I was quietly exploring the lagoon when suddenly it appeared before me, superb, with all its fins.
With a kind of quiet confidence, the confidence of something that has nothing to prove.
I kept a safe distance to watch it. It does not hurry, it does not hide, it is a quiet strength.
It takes up the space that belongs to it, with a presence that brings calm all around, a reminder that there is an elegant way to take your place without any show of force."
